The Cable Keeper is a friction device for holding the Slip Tip cable tight until the gun is fired. Once the shaft starts to travel down the track, the cable pulls free of the Keeper. This has proven to be a quick and satisfactory method of holding the slip tip in place for many divers.

    The Keeper is made of Delrin plastic and should be inset into the gun stock so that it doesn’t pivot on the single mounting screw. It should be mounted near the forward end of the gun and as near to the spear shaft centerline as is practical.
